A letter on launching The Alden Echo: the Advertiser pause, the local news gap, and an invitation to build this paper together.
When the Alden Advertiser paused publication on February 1, 2025, our town lost more than just a stack of weekly pages. We lost our shared record. Neighborhood group chats tried to fill the void, but social media feeds never quite do the job.
We are here to cover the village and the town with clear names, dates, and straight facts, on real paper you can pick up, hand to a friend, or debate over coffee. The Echo only works if we build it together.
